Hey all, I’m back with at a rather serious question for this week’s Video Game Tuesday. Is GTA 6 too big to fail?
So Is GTA 6 too Big to Fail?: Well, by all accounts as of writing this with all the hype and expectations for this game, I would have to hazard that yes, Grand Theft Auto 6 is way too big to fail. It’s almost certainly going to earn a profit even with the absolutely ridiculous budget it has for development. Honestly, it had the largest budget ever for a video game, and the fact it’s almost guaranteed to turn a profit is insane. How much it gains in profit remains to be seen, but I wouldn’t be surprised if GTA 6 eventually outsells every other game ever made thus far including Minecraft.
Is That a Good Thing?: Maybe. The amount of money that’s gone into GTA 6 already is ridiculous and probably made a lot of the developers earn tons of money working on it just from pure wages as it was developed. That is a great thing given how pressed game developers are these days.
Game development costs are already insanely high compared to what they used to be, and it’s getting out of control and really hampering the ability for newcomers to the development space or new IPs to succeed. That’s not always the case. For example, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 was made by Sandfall Interactive, a relatively small studio, and that innovative RPG did amazingly well.
So, with GTA 6 having such a huge budget, the scales are tipped heavily in its favor. Hopefully, GTA 6 will live up to its hype and budget. I know a lot of players are hoping for that, myself included.
That’s it for this week’s Video Game Tuesday.
