This Book Series Wednesday, I’m covering a series I loved when I was younger and stupider; and looking back at it now I realize that it wasn’t that great. It’s The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind.

Plot Synopsis: Richard Cypher’s decision to help a woman in the Upper Ven near the Boundary between the Midlands and Westland creates more trouble than first appears.

Plot: The plot is okay up until the very last part of the first book and after that point it all begins to unravel from that point. I loved the plot when I was younger and didn’t understand Deus Ex Machina as a concept.

Characters: Richard is a decent enough main character, but I think Zedd is probably my favorite character of the entire series. Pity the plot drags the characters down with them.

Overall: If you are okay with mediocre plot, than you’ll love this series. Otherwise move on with your life.

For those who like: Fantasy, Action, Lots and lots of violence, Okay plots, Decent characters.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above, or just having a mediocre plot.
