One of my many highlights from E3 was meeting with Donald Wisniewski, President of Cybiko, about their brand new machine geared toward being the next best thing in wireless entertainment. I already know what you guys are thinking. What or who the GiN is Cybiko?!! Well Cybiko in a nutshell is an intense High-Tech-Gigabyte-Multiprocessing-Cyber Sending-Wireless-Communication machine. (Ouch, what a Brainburner) Actually, in plain English, Cybiko is catchy new wirelesses handheld that allows you to send and receive email to anyone on the net, or send graphics, music, chat wirelessly, or even play games with someone in your "virtual" network. Cybiko … Continue reading Cybiko wireless game device
The advances in sound technology over the last several years have tried to do one thing – bring the sound closer to the user. One only has to look at an ordinary desk chair to envision the obvious next step. The Intensor LX is a specially designed chair the has speakers placed in strategic locations to give the user a sort of ‘sensaround’ feel. The subwoofer sends its sounds through the base of the chair right into your spine, giving your sound experience that extra punch. The unit that interfaces with your computer’s sound output is a small box that … Continue reading Intensor LX is intense
With a street price of around 50 dollars, proprietary digital circuitry, solid construction, a hair-pin trigger and 17 programmable buttons, this baby is sweet. My first impression was that the Panther DX is a big stick. After I opened the box, I immediately wanted to take it out for a spin to see what this baby could do. From opening the box, it took only a couple minutes to get things moving. I quickly plugged it into my USB port [requires Windows 98 or NT 5] and installed the software. Then I installed Red Barron 3D, by Sierra, which comes … Continue reading Panther DX is one mean stick
Gamers these days are getting pretty picky, but the Montego II Quadzilla has enough features, support and raw power to round out any high-end system. Opening the box, the first thing you will notice is that the card is in two pieces. The main part of the card that plugs into a standard PCI slot contains everything a gamer will need to get 3D sound with a two speaker setup. Now, this method is not truly 3D sound and is achieved by tricking the listener with various Doppler shifts and other audio clues that mimic a 3D environment, but unless … Continue reading Montego II Quadzilla will rock you
When I first accepted the task of reviewing this new product, I must admit I was a bit skeptical. In the back of my head, I was thinking, ‘OK, this will be another fancy-looking joystick, with cool emblems and lots of little buttons I’ll never use.’ Then I was worrying there would be a tiny number of games out there that support the stick and about the pain of installing and updating drivers for it. All my fears were unfounded. The Titans Sphere is a solid piece of technology. Curious as always to unwrap new packages, I eagerly cut the … Continue reading Titans Sphere beats Sidewinder in head to head testing
Before I get started on my perspective on the Wing Commander movie, I want it to be perfectly clear that I am NOT a film critic. To me, film critics are snobby, art-loving individuals who get hot over Victorian-era, tear-jerking, sleep-inducing, adultery-supporting (i.e. Bridges of Madison County) flicks that no real moviegoer of my caliber would ever see. Just watching the Shakespeare movie beat Saving Private Ryan this weekend for best picture is a prime example of the problem. If you want to see a review from a movie critic, check out the gushing reviews for Shakespeare in Love. If … Continue reading Wing Commander movie is not for series purists
I’ve always had a soft spot for Gravis’ controllers. Who knows why it is? Maybe it’s because the first control I bought for my PC was the original Gravis Game Pad. Maybe it was the similarity of their gamepads with the gamepads of video game consoles. Then again, maybe it is because their controllers are of such a high quality that I cannot see going with anyone else. And from that original game pad to their most recent controller, the Xterminator, it is apparent that Gravis cares about their gamers and knows what they want in a controller. Xterminator has … Continue reading Gravis makes awesome controller to support any game!
