Michael Blaker’s Movie Monday Featuring A Knight’s Tale

Hey all, I’m back with another film from the early 2000s for this week’s Movie Monday. It’s A Knight’s Tale.

Plot: The plot is pretty great, and it’s all about a young squire named William masquerading as a knight to compete in tournaments. For those unaware of this, doing that was a major taboo if you weren’t a noble and thus completely forbidden to all peasants, which William absolutely is. It’s not a particularly deep plot, but the movie is quite entertaining, if not all that accurate historically.

Casting: This film starred Heath Ledger, and he does an amazing job of portraying William. Shannyn Sossamon played the female lead Lady Jocelyn, and Paul Bettany portrayed Geoffrey Chaucer.

Cinematography: The movie is well shot, though the special effects aren’t particularly noteworthy.

Music: The music is definitely out of place as it’s all music from the 1970s, but honestly, I enjoyed it, nonetheless.

Overall: A fun movie and definitely one of Ledger’s better films.

For those who like: Medieval Fiction, Action, Drama, Comedy, and a Great Cast.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
