Hey all. I’m back with a quick review of another Pathfinder Tales book. It’s Shy Knives by Sam Sykes! The book is available in paperback, on Kindle, and now makes it to Audible so that your favorite stories can come to life and let readers “listen” to a good tale.

Check out our other review of the series for more Shy Knives goodness.

Plot Synopsis: Shaia “Shy” Ratani is a clever rogue who makes her living outside of strictly legal methods. While hiding out in the frontier city of Yanmass, she accepts a job solving a nobleman’s murder, only to find herself sucked into a plot involving an invading centaur army that could see the whole city burned to the ground. Shy could stop that from happening, but doing so would involve revealing herself to the former friends who now want her dead. Add in an aristocratic partner with the literal blood of angels in her veins, and Shy quickly remembers why she swore off doing good deeds in the first place.

Plot: Shy Knives might just be my second favorite book in the Pathfinder Tales verse yet, and it’s not just because Shy our female lead is a badass. Her being a thief/rogue went a long way to making my time spent reading this novel quite fun.

Characters: If you enjoyed the Rodrick and Hyrm series, Shy will be just your cup of tea. The rest of the cast was also quite good, with Daralia being my favorite of the side characters.

Overall: A solid entry in the Pathfinder Tales collection, Shy Knives will be an enjoyable ride for anyone who enjoys a character who is not quite your standard hero or heroine.
