Kingdoms of Amalur Requires Online Pass for Certain Quests

By Tyler Lee

Online passes are becoming quite a common thing in new video games. Publishers are using them to makes sure people buy brand new copies, or if not, at least pay for a certain amount of content within the game itself. Like Batman: Arkham City’s Catwomen gameplay, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is keeping a set of missions behind an online pass, effectively keeping gamers from accessing seven individual quests unless they redeem their code that comes with the game.

According to Destructoid, an online pass and a message encouraging the player to enter the code to redeem their seven missions is what awaited them when they opened their review copy. For many gamers, this may be a little disheartening with Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning being a single player game, yet requiring an online pass to access some of its content. It is unclear at this time whether or not the seven missions are invaluable to the story or are just side missions that could be ignored.
