Heavy Rain wins big at game BAFTAs

Sony’s ambitious mystery thriller, Heavy Rain, was the big winner of this year’s GAME BAFTA Video Game Awards, winning three awards. The Quantic Dreams team collected the gongs for Best Story, Technical Innovation and Original Music.

EA’s Mass Effect 2 swept away the Best Game award at this year’s. Whilst Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood came home with Best Action Game, despite leading the pack with seven nominations.

And when the people spoke, Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops picked up the GAME Award of 2010, in the only category that was open to a public vote.

In contrast to the GiN Game of the Year Awards, which saw Red Dead Redemption win Game of the Year, Rockstar’s western adventure was notable in its absence. With only one nomination, Red Dead failed to come home with a single gong.

An overwhelmed Peter Molyneux stepped up to collect his BAFTA Fellowship, presented by Oscar winning actor Sir Ben Kingsley, who provided voice acting on the UK developer’s latest game, Fable III.
