This week for Book Series Wednesday I’m covering the sequel trilogy to The Dark Elf Trilogy by R.A. Salvatore, it’s The Icewind Dale Trilogy.

Plot Synopsis: Even in Icewind Dale, Drizzt Do’Urden was not fully accepted, except by the dwarves whom he had eventually befriended. He roamed the tundra, hunting down yeti and giants that threatened the Ten Towns of Icewind Dale. That’s where his story begins once more.

Plot: The plot for this trilogy is much better than The Dark Elf Trilogy. It’s a pity that I can’t call it amazing, like I might have if I was still a 12 year old enjoying this book for the epic fight scenes and not for the plot. The plot is fairly standard D&D stuff, expect magic and lots of battles.

Characters: Finally we get a look at other characters, like Bruenor and Wulfgar. They help to liven up the books, although like I said above it’s not enough for me to call this plot amazing.

Overall: If you like Dungeons and Dragons, or you liked The Dark Elf Trilogy, you might like these books.

For those who like: Dungeons and Dragons, Fantasy, Epic Fight Scenes.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above, or want better plot driven stories.
