This week for Anime Sunday I’m doing my first of the Winter 2017 Anime Season Impressions! It’s my Masamune-kun Episode 01 Impressions!

Plot Synopsis: As a child,Makabe Masamune  once suffered greatly at the hands of a wealthy and beautiful girl named Adagaki Aki , who nicknamed him “Pig Foot” due to his chubby appearance. Seeking revenge against his tormentor, Masamune works hard to improve himself and returns as an incredibly handsome, albeit narcissistic, high school student. When he encounters Aki once again, he is prepared to exact vengeance.

Plot: The plot is pretty intriguing, I have to admit that I wasn’t expecting this to be so drama filled when I first started watching it. That being said I should’ve guessed that it would be with the word Revenge in it’s title. I enjoy this premise quite a bit as it’s pretty much every low self-esteem persons goal.

Characters: Aki is a really frosty person, completely blunt and brutally honest. Frankly I enjoy that characteristic as it’s something I try to achieve with my own writing. The blunt and brutally honest part, not the frosty part.  Masamune on the other hand is really narcissistic and that was really fun to watch. The rest of the cast hasn’t made much of an impression on me yet, hopefully we get to learn more as the plot goes on. But frankly I hope this series focuses on Masamune and Aki’s relationship more than anything else.

Art: The art was very good, not ufotable quality, but very good nonetheless.

Music: Fit the show very well, but not very outstanding. Neither amazing, nor terrible.

Overall: This is a show that any low self esteem person might want to watch. Romance lovers will also probably enjoy this series.

For those who like: Romance, Comedy, Drama, Slice of Life, School Life, Great Plot, Fantastic Lead Characters, Great Artwork, Good Music.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
