Robot Entertainment Hires CPO Ross Borden

Robot Entertainment, the independent game studio behind the critically-acclaimed Hero Academy and the Orcs Must Die! franchise, today announced that Ross Borden has joined the company as Chief Publishing Officer. Borden’s extensive experience significantly bolsters Robot’s publishing capabilities as it looks to release Orcs Must Die! Unchained in 2016.

Borden is a highly analytical product leader with a 15-year track record of success in online gaming and digital entertainment. As Executive Vice President of Publishing at NCsoft, he led teams in brand marketing, sales, business development, PR, and publishing operations for North America and Europe. He managed multiple $100+ million subscription and free to play online games including Guild Wars, Aion, and City of Heroes, for which he led the successful transition from subscription to free to play.

Prior to that he successfully launched many console, PC and handheld games for 3DO and Namco.  Most recently he built and launched the award-winning ScoreStreak real money fantasy sports gaming marketplace for iOS. Borden holds MBA and BA degrees from UCLA.

  1. Oh yeah, that transition to “free to play” was soooo successful for City of Heroes that it shut down a year or so later. :P
