Jurassic Park Celebrated for 25 Years Entertainment At The MCM Comic Con

The 25th anniversary of the Spielberg classic Jurassic Park will be celebrated at this years Comic Con event, held from the 25-27th May, in London; and the Smart Arts Gallery will be releasing a special edition collectible coin, licensed by Universal Studios to mark the occasion. The coin will be limited to 9,995 worldwide so is set to be a real collectors item. It will be available to purchase for £10 at the show, at the Smart Arts Gallery Stand, which will be located in the South Hall at stand 2318. 

The Jurassic Park franchise, is a famous collection of movies, centered on the tale of a disastrous attempt to create a theme park comprising of cloned dinosaurs. The dinosaurs escape from their confinements and cause havoc by terrorizing the human inhabitants of the park. The rights to the novel, written by Michael Crichton were purchased by Universal Studios in 1990, before it was even published and the first two movies were based on it. Universal Studios had to bid against other film powerhouses such as Warner Bros., Columbia and 20th Century Fox, to win the rights to turn the novel into a movie. The belief in the novel and its potential has been justified with Jurassic World setting records at the global box office. 

The franchise is so popular it has seen many things such as video games, casino games, toys and even theme park rides based upon the Jurassic Park theme. Furthermore, it has been recently announced that the iconic Jurassic Park ride at the Universal Studios theme park, located in Hollywood is to be closed. However, a new ride is set to open in 2019. The new ride will not just pull inspiration from the original movie that started the franchise but will encapsulate the franchise as a whole.  A 25th anniversary celebration is also taking place at Universal Studios from the 11th to the 13th May. 

The fifth film in the legendary Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom is due to be released on the 22nd of June this year. There have being several exciting rumours circulating in advance of the films release, including whispers of fan favourite Ian Malcolm almost being cut. The movie is tipped to be one of the biggest releases of the year, after the 2015 instalment of the franchise, Jurassic World, was the second biggest of the year and grossed 1.67 billion at the box office. The sixth instalment and the third in the Jurassic World trilogy is also already in the works and has been scheduled for release in 2021.
