Green Day Rock Band Ships

Multi-platinum selling and Grammy Award-winning group Green Day, along with Harmonix, the leading developer of music-based games, MTV Games, a part of Viacom’s MTV Networks (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), and Reprise / Warner Bros. Records today announced that Green Day: Rock Band is making its North American debut on Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and Wii console from Nintendo, and on June 11, 2010 in Europe.

Rock the stage and sing-a-long in this brand new extension of the Rock Band platform. Play up to 47 songs as Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt or Tré Cool through their expansive career from their humble beginnings with Dookie to full blown stardom with American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, with unique visuals and venues all inspired by Green Day.

"I think people will hopefully be impressed with the pictures and video we’ve included from throughout our career," said Billie Joe Armstrong, vocalist and guitarist for Green Day. "The blackmail MTV has over Green Day is insane!"

"We thought we could have a lot of fun making a Rock Band game and highlight different times in our career, since we’re using so many songs," said Mike Dirnt, bassist for Green Day. "We just thought it was a cool way to show people something different."

"There will be some people who know every single song on the disc, which is awesome," said Tre Cool, Green Day’s drummer. "But for those who don’t, it’s a great way to discover some of the older material."

"Green Day’s instantly recognizable songs play incredibly well in Rock Band," said Paul DeGooyer, Senior Vice President of Electronic Games and Music, MTV Networks. "Collaborating with the band to bring so much of their music to our platform, including three of the most important albums of the last two decades, has been a fantastic experience."

Green Day: Rock Band features 47 on disc songs, including Dookie and American Idiot, as well as the entirety of 21st Century Breakdown, with the added support of six previously released downloadable songs for Rock Band and Rock Band™2. The game takes place in three unique venues that capture the raw energy from Green Day’s early punk years to the explosive arena shows that the band is known for all over the world.

On top of the expansive track-list and unique venues, Green Day: Rock Band brings back the 3-part vocal harmonies previously pioneered in The Beatles: Rock Band™, allowing you to sing with up to 3 people, all at once, as well as exclusive collectible images and videos, such as a sound check performance of "Geek Stink Breath" before the broadcast, the band’s first-ever MTV News interview filmed inside their customized Bookmobile prior to Dookie’s release and a Know Your Enemy performance video from a tour stop on the MTV World Stage, Munich.

Green Day: Rock Band is available in two versions, the standalone game and Green Day: Rock Band PLUS, which includes special packaging, a song export key to export all songs on disc to your hard drive to be played in Rock Band, Rock Band 2 or the forthcoming Rock Band 3 as well as the six Green Day DLC tracks, which is a $22 value.
