BreakAway Hires Dave Curtin As VP

BreakAway, Ltd. a leading developer of entertainment games and game-based simulations and training software announced today that Dave Curtin has joined the company as Vice President of Development. Curtin will be responsible for overseeing product development at BreakAway's Hunt Valley, MD headquarters, as well as at its Corpus Christi, TX studios.

His extensive experience in managing people and building industry relations will be a great asset to BreakAway," said Doug Whatley, Founder and CEO of BreakAway. "Dave will be instrumental in leading our development efforts helping to ensure we realize our growth potential in the entertainment and serious game space."

"BreakAway is working on exciting projects for the leading publisher in the entertainment industry and has set the standard in serious games by creating a suite of desktop development tools that allows the military, medical, homeland security, and first responder communities to rapidly create simulated environments for testing, training and strategic planning," said Curtin.

Curtin will become part of the core management team at BreakAway that's been expanded to enable the company to more fully leverage the growth opportunities in the rapidly evolving modeling and simulation market.

Prior to joining BreakAway, Curtin was studio manager for Microsoft Games delivering leading titles including Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding, Top Spin Tennis and Links 2004 for the Xbox. Dave began his game career in 1989 at Access Software, Inc. where he built a long-term relationship with Microsoft producing the highly successful Microsoft Golf series. He was Vice President of Research & Development when Microsoft purchased the company in 1999. Curtin holds a Bachelor of Science with a major in Electronic Engineering from Brigham Young University.
