Betrayal at Baldur’s Gate Game Builds on Betrayal at House on the Hill Success

Avalon Hill and Dungeons & Dragons today released the highly-anticipated Betrayal at Baldur’s Gate, a new board game based on the award-winning Betrayal at House on the Hill. With one of Forgotten Realms’ most iconic locations serving as the backdrop, Betrayal at Baldur’s Gate players work together to explore the city and defeat monsters from the D&D universe like beholders, mind flayers and other horrors emerging from the darkness. That is, until an unspeakable evil force turns one or more players against the group.

A shadow has fallen over Baldur’s Gate, summoning evil from the depths, and it is up to the players to build and explore the iconic city’s seedy alleys and deadly catacombs to vanquish the dark forces.

“Betrayal at Baldur’s Gate combines the strengths of both Dungeons & Dragons and the original Betrayal at House on the Hill,” says Mike Mearls, Senior Manager, Dungeons & Dragons Design and Development. “Both games are about exploring strange places and facing horrible monsters. Betrayal adds an element of horror and mistrust to the mix that D&D has never quite had before. If our playtests are anything to go by, it’s an addition that D&D fans are eager to embrace.”
