This week I’m covering the first in a series I came across recently. It’s Child of the Daystar by Bryce O’Connor.

Plot Synopsis: One day a nomadic trading family stumbles across three corpses, two humans and one Atherian babe who was apparently a slave. But what they thought was dead still has some spark of life beating within his scaled chest…

Plot: The plot of this first entry in the series is really dark and depressing. Honestly I can’t state how depressing the book can be, so for those who don’t deal well with such topics stay far away from this series. That all being said it was quite good, but personally I try to stay from the depressing book series.

Characters: Raz is our main lead and he’s a pretty interesting character. The rest of the cast is good as well, with the Arro’s being my favorite characters. The Grandmother is probably my favorite if I had to pick one of them.

Overall: This is a depressing book, but if you love Dark Fantasy, you’ll love Child of the Daystar.

For those who like: Action, Adventure, Drama, Dark Fantasy, Good Plot, Great Cast of Characters.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
