This week for Anime Sunday I’m covering another new series of the Summer 2016 season! It’s my DAYS Episode 01 Impressions!

Plot Synopsis: Days follows the struggles of Tsukushi Tsukamoto, a shy, clumsy and bullied teenager about to start high school. He decides to get in Seiseki High School so he can be with his neighbor and childhood friend Sayuri Tachibaba, who is one year his senior. Just as he is bullied after visiting Sayuri at her work, Tsukushi is saved by Jin Kazama, who scares away the bullies by attacking them with nunchucks, and declares himself to be a vagrant and lost in town. Jin then asks Tsukushi if he likes soccer and asks him to join him the same night for a futsal match as his team is one player short.

Plot: The plot in this first episode is great, although it has it’s cringe worthy moments. I enjoyed this quite a bit, and I’ll probably end up binge watching the entire series someday in the near future.

Characters: Tsukushi and Jin are our two main characters, and they are about as different as you can get. Tsukushi is a timid and clumsy kid who really doesn’t have anything going for him other than sheer effort. Jin on the other hand is an athletic and talent guy who doesn’t have any of Tsukushi’s issues. They make for a great pair of leads. The rest of the cast is good too, especially Sayuri.

Art: The art is amazing and I wasn’t expecting it to be so good from a studio, Mappa, I’m fairly sure I’ve had never heard of before.

Music: The music is just as good as the Art, and fits this series perfectly.

Overall: Definitely a must watch for any sports fans who enjoy a main character who has to work at being good at it.

For those who like: Sports, Soccer, Drama, Slice of Life, Excellent Plot, Great Cast of Characters, Fantastic Artwork, Amazing Music.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
