This week for Bookish Wednesday I’m back to a series I covered the first entry to a long time back. It’s Split the Party, Book 02 of the Spells, Swords and Stealth Series, by Drew Hayes!

Plot Synopsis: Fleeing from a vengeful king has sent the former NPCs across Solium’s borders, into the kingdom of Alcatham. As wanted fugitives, they head to the small farming village of Briarwillow, hoping to blend in, lay-low, and avoid trouble at all costs. Unfortunately, Briarwillow has problems all its own…

Plot: The plot is pretty great, and it’s less about our party of one time NPCs faking being real adventurers and actually becoming them which is great all on it’s own. There are parts in “our” world that made me cringe a little, but I generally enjoyed the hell out of this book.

Characters: Timicus is a pretty good addition and there are a few more that made me smile and laugh, but generally I still think that the main characters we met last time were the best. In our world we get another group of people that Tim and Russell start playing with, since their last group was a total washout.

Overall: An excellent sequel, I’m really looking forward to the next entry in the series.
