Well folks, this has been a long time coming. I have been here for 20 years. Needless to say, it has been quite the experience that I will always cherish. Even with all the criticism I get for everything I’ve done, I feel that I accomplished a lot while here.
As I sit here writing this, I ponder about my life, thinking about what I’ve done, and it really pains me to say that after twenty years, I decided…it’s time to move on. Yes, that’s right. I’ve decided that it’s time for a change. I’m moving on with my life…
…and to a new home!
You all thought I meant I was moving away from GiN, did you? Not likely!
I will continue to write for Gameindustry.com, but there might be a week or two that I will not post my normal columns. I guess I can say that for the first time since who knows when, I am taking a short hiatus from commentaries. Reviews will still come from me, as I have my take on the recent War of the Chosen expansion for XCOM 2 on the way, as well as other games that I’m working on, and of course, my anticipation for the upcoming Xbox One X will be covered in full detail.
In fact, I went back to play some games that are preparing me for the move, and how it might not be as tough as they are. Case in point, I am going back through Ark: Survival Evolved now that it is out of the preview program and now at full release, and like the game says, surviving alone is a challenge. I hope to get more into it as time comes, but I might just do it in bits and pieces until I play the X enhanced version.
Ironically, going in by bits and pieces is how I’m handling this move. By packing a little here, and a little there, it is helping me count down the days until the eventual move, and I’m looking forward to this new experience as it gets closer.
Most of all, I hope that by moving to this new location, I can finally get to streaming games live on both Twitch and on the GiN YouTube page. I really want to work on new videos and hopefully the new location will be the spark I need to do so. Even if it means I’ll have to upgrade my Hauppage PVR60 to a new 4K capable capture device (if one even exists, that is,) I’ll be ready to tackle a whole new challenge.
And that’s what this move is going to be, a new challenge for me. Will it work out in the end? I guess we’ll find out when I get back. But while I count down the days until the move, I’ll just keep packing, looking over my new location, and of course, playing new games as they come across.
My body is ready.
